SOUND MIXER Sam Wagster

Sam Wagster is a Chicago-based musician and composer who has been a location sound mixing on numerous film and video projects in Illinois and in his home state of Texas. After graduating from SMU with degrees in Cinema and English, he began to pursue theatrical work, and in 2001 was nominated for a Dallas Theatre League/Leon Rabin Award for the original sound design of Allison Moore's "Eighteen”. Additionally, he began to do location sound for independent short films and features. After moving to Chicago in 2001, he began composing music for the theatrical productions of Chicago playwright Brian Torrey Scott, and around 2003, he began to work with Nicholas Monsour in various capacities as band-mate, theatrical collaborator (in the theater collective Weather Talking), and most recently as the location sound-mixer for Monsour's OH MY SOUL. He is currently playing music with several bands and solo artists (Relaxation Record, Dragon & Jones, DRMWPN, Jeff Harms, Marvin Tate, Jim Becker, Ross Cashiola), and recently completed an original score for Joseph Cashiola's A Thing as Big as the Ocean, which was selected by IFP for their 2008 lab/workshop.
