Originally from Colombia, Gonzalo Escobar moved to the United States to pursue his college education. He began to explore photography, film, video, and installation art in South Florida and recently obtained his bachelor’s degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His last project, Accidentally Sprayed, set in his
native country, where he combined documentary filmmaking, essay cinema, and street interventions to investigate the practice of mass fumigations of coca crops. Apart from some performance art, he has always preferred to be “behind the camera” — he took a chance, however, with OH MY SOUL.
