ABIGAIL Catiah Li

Catiah Li is a world-traveling sound and visual artist currently residing in the city of Chicago. She is a direct descendent of Empress Dowager Cixi. Having been raised on different continents and in a multi-ethnic family, her artistic work focuses on creating dialog between cultures in the United States.

Her photographic practice explores the “edgy” and the “dangerous”, commenting on the thin line between melodrama and the mundane.
Her print work has been shown around the world, from Beijing's 798 Factory, to MotoyamaCat in Japan, and various underground galleries in Chicago.

Li has recently composed and produced a series of sound pieces called “Letters to Celebrities”, featuring tracks dedicated to public figures such as Owen Wilson, Ivanka Trump, Paris Hilton, and Prince William of Wales. As her next artistic move, Li plans to delve into the Chicago underground Hip Hop scene and West Side freestylers — going where few record producers have gone due to the area’s reputation of gang violence.
